Dublin Land & Sea TicketThis week saw the launch of a new tourism initiative for Dublin City as Dublin Bay Cruises and Dublin Sightseeing have teamed up to offer visitors a combined “Land & Sea Ticket”. Lord Mayor of Dublin, Oisin Quinn was on board to welcome the new partnership. “This initiative can only serve to enhance tourist’s experience and will enable them to witness the best of the city’s attractions and the beauty of its coastline,” he said.

To celebrate Dublin’s newest tourist ticket the Lord Mayor performed the annual “Casting of the Spear ” ceremony, a Dublin Port tradition dating back to 526 years. The Lord Mayor of Dublin travelled out into Dublin Bay on board MV St Bridget and launched a spear deep into Dublin Bay, and once again marked the position of the city boundaries eastwards.

While Dublin Port Company brought to life its medieval tradition of the Lord Mayor casting a spear into Dublin Bay, we welcomed a new initiative from Dublin Bay Cruises and Dublin Sightseeing which will further animate the River Liffey and Dublin Bay for Dubliners and visitors alike.”
